Robert L. Cook “Bob” We come to you today with heavy hearts as we share the news of the passing of Robert L. Cook, a cherished member of our community. Robert L. Cook passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Pavilion of Ottawa at the age of 91 years. Born in Elwood, IL the son of the late William and Dorothy (nee Tyler) Cook. Loving Husband of 72 wonderful years to Gladys “Billie” (nee Ditch) Cook; Proud Father of Kathy (Tom) Crego and Larry (Cynthia) Cook; Adored Grandpa of Shannon(Chris Stanko) Crego and Pat (Jess) Crego; Great Grandfather of Lily and Wade Crego; Fond Brother of William (the late Dorothy) Cook and Bev (David) Keast; nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Joe (the late Mary) Cook and Wes Cook; his sisters in law, Rosalie (the late Chuck) Jordan and Laura Cook; his brother in law, Ralph (the late Barb) Ditch; and dear friends, Art Johnson and Larry Moorman. Bob was a life long Channahon resident, dedicated and proud of his community and was generous with his time and talent. With 40+ years as a skilled carpenter, he was more that happy to act as consultant by providing expert advice during the construction of three of our churches here in Channahon, St. Ann Catholic Church, Channahon United Methodist Church and Families of Faith Ministries Building. Keeping in line with his generous spirit he was awarded Channahon Citizen of the Year when saw to it that his neighbor’s home was safe and secure from persistent raccoon problems. He also served as a board member of the public school district of Minooka H.S. and Channahon Township. Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking. He will be fondly remembered as a long time member of the “Coffee Club” and will be dearly missed. Special thank you to the staff at Gardens at Park Pointe, Pavilion of Ottawa and Lightways Hospice for their kind gestures and words of encouragement over these recent days and months. For those wishing to leave a lasting memorial in Robert’s name, donations may be directed to Lightways Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. At Bob’s request, Cremation Rites have been honored. No services are scheduled at this time.
