Karen L. Hagey (Nagel-Goulding) Karen passed away peacefully on Friday, October 22, 2021 surrounded by her family at Lightways Hospice, Joliet, IL. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana the daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy Goulding. Loving mother of Daniel Nagel (Rebecca Stephenson) of Channahon and Brian Nagel (Heather Weck) of Minooka. Dear sister of Kathy Goulding of Wilmington; Fond aunt of Christopher (Angela) Goulding and great aunt of Zachary Goulding or as Karen called him, "Hunka Hunka" all of Hoffman Estates. Preceded in death by her parents and sister, Kimberly Goulding. Karen is also survived by several extended family members who will miss her dearly. Karen graduated from Peoria High School in Peoria, IL Class of 1970 and studied at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL following high school. She was a Channahon resident for 40+ years and considered this her home. For many years she worked as a Vision and Hearing Technician for the Will County Health Department in Joliet, IL and Dr. Daryl L. Condon O.D. in Minooka, IL. Karen was very involved in the PTO and School Boards, she served as Room Mother and Class Chaperone and was an avid fan at her sons sporting events during their school age years. She formed many life long friendships with the faculty and staff members. She enjoyed hosting gatherings for family and friends. She was known for her annual Summer Pig Roast as well as her infamous Bloody Mary Cook Off every Thanksgiving. She could find humor in anything and anyone who knew Karen was aware of this. A couple of her famous quotes were "If your ass ain't on fire, get out of my kitchen" and "My #1 rule, don't bleed on the carpet". She was like a Second mother to so many of her boys friends and will be most dearly missed. Karen had several "Grand dogs" over the years who she loved and cherished, namely, Deborah Anne, Jim Hendrix and Brenda Lee. No Services will be held at this time. Per Karen's request a "party" (Celebration of Life Memorial) will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or donations it would have been Karen's wish that you raise your glass and make a toast in her memory and the love she had for you. Dan and Blov Nagel and their families are inviting everyone for a party to celebrate the life and memory of Karen L. Hagey (Nagel/Goulding). We will start the celebration at Noon to watch the poor Chicago Bears play their last game of the season, along with listening to Karen's favorite top 1,000 song collection she made for herself over the years! We will toast her life with shots of cheap Chardonnay for anyone that can stomach it! Other beverages and food shall be provided! Please feel free to bring anything you wish if you have a preference, but it is not necessary. Anyone that would like to stop by and say hi, share a story, photos or shoot the sh_ _ we would all love to see you...everyone is welcome! The family will be at the clubhouse the whole day! Due to COVID we understand if you are unable to make the celebration. Please share this event! We hope to see you there!
