Roy A. Sabino, Sr. Passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2025 surrounded by family at his late Channahon residence at the age of 80 years. Born the son of Roy and Mary Sabino (nee Thompson). Roy is survived by Cindy Sabino (nee Frederick), mother of his children. Loving father of Roy D.L. (Terri) Sabino, Corina (Tim) Bedinger, Rory (Olivia Wenisch) Sabino, the late Ryan Sabino and the late Alan Sabino; Dear grandpa of Braiden, Emma and Halen; Fond brother of Cindy Grimley. Numerous nieces, nephews and treasured friends also mourn his passing. Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Danny Lupu, two sons, Ryan and Alan, mother in law, Mary Frederick, nephew, Erich Frederick, sister in law Sue Frederick and Roy’s first wife, Pam. Roy was a long time resident of Channahon. He had a grateful heart and considered so many things as “prizes” in life whether it was ship collectables, dollar bills with lucky serial numbers, his precious “Cat” or Cadillacs. But his greatest love was people, he never met a stranger, only friends that he hadn’t met yet. He enjoyed being “master barbecuer” and pork chop cooker at the many parties he hosted for family and friends. Roy surrounded himself with music he was especially fond of Pink Floyd. NASCAR was another source of connecting with others. Sharing the experience of camping for days together with friends as he traveled the country to attend races. Life was a journey for Roy whether it was seeing the world as a deck hand on those big beautiful ships or trekking the country as a teamster truck driver, it was all embraced with passion and compassion. Your light and love will warm our hearts forever. A Memorial Gathering for Roy A. Sabino, Sr. will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 4:00 PM until Prayer service begins at 6:30 PM at The Maple Funeral Home located at 24300 S. Ford Rd, Channahon.
