Robert G. Phillips At peace on September 23, 2023 at 79 years of age. Leaving behind grieving loved ones to cherish his memory. Born in Morris, IL the son of the late Marvin L. "Jack" and Helen L. (nee Dare) Phillips. Beloved husband of Kathleen M. Phillips (nee Boyle); Loving father of Wayne R. Phillips and Colin A. (Alyssa) Phillips; Dear brother of Jack (Carla) Phillips, Nancy J. Dennis) Jennings, Ken E. Phillips, Donald (Carol) Phillips and Diane (Edward) Anderson. Robert will also be deeply missed by his adoring sisters-in-law, Anne (the late Wayne) Johnson, Margaret A. Boyle, Patricia J. (Bill) Jackson and Eileen E. Boyle as well as a host of numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father and mother, his brother-in-law, Wayne Johnson and his mother and father in law, Arthur W. and Margaret R. (nee Foster) Boyle. Robert will be remembered as a kind and caring soul with a great sense of humor. He was the first to reach out to a neighbor in the most natural and giving fashion. Truly loving his neighbor as he loved himself. Being comfortable in his own skin he was able to afford others to do the same. Robert had a well rounded life, he was an impassioned student of life, he enjoyed learning and reading. And was a skilled carpenter. He was also an avid outdoorsman, especially fishing. Feeling strongly about the beauty and balance of nature, Robert was a supporter of Catch and Release Fishing, improving native fish populations by allowing more fish to remain and reproduce in the ecosystem. How true to his nature. Robert not only enjoyed being outdoors he enjoyed being active outdoors, he was taking long walks and riding his bicycle well into his 70's. True outdoorsmen work and exist with nature, not against it. They know who the boss is and respect it. They take what nature gives them and adapt to it. True outdoorsmen enter into a relationship with the outdoors. Like a marriage, love is crucial, but respect keeps the relationship alive and exciting.
