Sowa (nee Mrozek), age 96, formerly of Lockport, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Plainfield. Irene was born February 19, 1920 in Joliet, IL, the daughter of the late John and Catherine (nee Pendziszewski) Mrozek. An avid White Sox fan who also enjoyed many years of bowling at Strike and Spare Lanes in Lockport. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Louis T. Sowa (1975); her Granddaughter, Amy J. Mach-Meistad (1998); her Parents; Brothers, Walter, Stanley, Joseph, Alex and Casmir; Sisters,Francis,Helen,Charlotteand Marie. Survived by her Children, Carol (Mick) Boland of Minooka and James(Karen)Sowa of Liberty Hills, TX; Grandchildren, Jeffery Boland of Chicago, Kelly (Danny) Thompson of MinookaandKeriFickofLibertyHills,TX; her Great-Grandchildren; Trevor, Teagan and TylerThompson and Hayley,Hannah and Roy Fick;numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
