Denise L. Stamm May 24, 1954 — December 12, 2025 (nee Stricklin) Passed away peacefully at her home in Joliet on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the age of 71. Her passing was unexpected. Denise is survived by her three children, of whom she was immensely proud: Suzanne (Mark) Haglund, Christine (Thomas) Banas, and Steven (Nicole) Stamm; and her beloved grandchildren: Haidyn, Emerson, and Teagan Haglund; Kasey and Hailey Fris; and Taylor, Trevor, and Brayden Stamm. Her grandchildren were a constant source of joy and pride, and she cherished each of them deeply. She is also survived by her sisters, Rochelle C. Fonck (Robert, †2025) and Nancy L. Murphy (Bill, †2006). She is also survived by dear friends Lawrence Winke, Tina Scott, Deborah Evans-Rosales, and Michael Stricklin; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family; neighbors; and friends; and her beloved canine companion, Luzi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman F. Stricklin (1985) and Ruby L. (Church) Stricklin (1984); her brother, Norman M. Stricklin (2008); and her former husband, Bernard L. Stamm (2008), her children’s father. Denise, a lifelong Joliet resident, was a 1972 graduate of Joliet East High School. After years as a devoted homemaker and mother, she attended Joliet Junior College, where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. Her nursing career included service at Silver Cross Hospital, the Illinois Youth Center, Motorola, and Interim HealthCare. She later worked as a contracted nurse on construction job sites, providing care to injured workers. Denise retired after finding deep fulfillment as a home health travel nurse, where she valued the personal connections and care she was able to provide. In accordance with her wishes, Denise was cremated. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at The Maple Funeral Home & Crematory, 24300 S. Ford Road, Channahon, Illinois 60410.
