David Alan Stafford

David Alan Stafford Of Minooka, IL passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 after months of failing health. He died peacefully at his home with his wife of 50 years, Lana (nee Zink) by his side. Dave was born in February 20, 1944, to William and Helen (nee Lamping) Stafford. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Marilyn (Jack) Severson, William (Judy) Stafford and Susan (Ron) Kuykendall. Dave is survived by his loving wife, Lana (nee Zink); his children, David Scott Stafford of Littleton, CO, Alan Michael Stafford of Aurora, CO and Eric Charles (Dawn) Karr of Channahon, IL; his sisters, Phyllis (Michael) Feeney and Margaret (James) Furto; beloved grandchildren, Myles Stafford, Lucas Stafford, Sofia Stafford and Gilbert Karr, his sister in law Lora Zink, brother in law Frank Zink as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other beloved friends and relatives. Growing up in Minooka, Dave enjoyed working on farms, especially with his uncle, George Stafford. Dave learned to work hard at many different jobs throughout his life and retired as a local and farm truck driver. However, he never lost his interest and love of farms and gardening, as was evident from the gardens he planted each year in alleys, garden patches and wherever else he could plant a vegetable. Dave and Lana married and blended their family of three sons. They shared times of quiet and times with others such as gourmet dinner clubs and road trips. Dave was happy for and proud of his sons, he bragged about their successes and worried about their troubles. Family and friends were the essence of Dave's life. Although he enjoyed and excelled at his woodworking hobby, fishing in waters near and far and extolling the details of the best foods he ever ate, it was family that was the essence of his life. Dave's stories, somewhat embellished as he grew older, he entertained and endeared himself to his family and friends alike. Whether sitting outside on his back patio, walking the neighborhood or meeting his friends at least once a day for coffee, he left a permanent mark on their hearts and smiles on the faces of those who knew him. This caring, funny and gently-gruff man will be missed greatly by those who have known him their whole lifetime as well as those he met along the way. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 9:00 AM until Service begins at 11:00 AM at Channahon United Methodist Church located at 24751 W. Eames (Rt 6), Channahon.
