Charlene M. Johnson

Charlene M. Johnson "Chy" (nee Hulbert) Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at her Joliet residence at the age of 92 years. Born in Joliet, IL, the daughter of Raymond and Domenica Hulbert. Charlene was united in marriage on December 30, 1952 to her childhood sweetheart, Arthur Johnson. To this blessed union of 61 years she was the loving mother of Janet (Gary) Fitzgerald. Cherished grandmother of Lindsay Fitzgerald, Kathleen (Trenton) Fitzgerald-Ellis and Kevin (Heather) Fitzgerald. Great grandmother of Mia, Madilyn and Nolan Fitzgerald and Isla Ellis. Dear sister of Clinton Hulbert and Betty Voytko. Also left to mourn her passing are her nieces, nephews and sister-in-law, Dorothy Ziesemer. Preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Arthur; two brothers, Raymond Hulbert and Frank "Buddy" Hulbert; one sister, Theresa Crawford; nieces and nephews, Daniel Hulbert, Martine Harrison, Laurel Hulbert, Jeanne Connor, Frank Coop and Denny Hulbert; brothers-in-law, Don Johnson, Chuck Ziesemer and Charles Crawford; sisters-in-law, Beverly Hulbert, Joy Johnson, Dorothy Hulbert and very dear friends, Bill and Donna McClintock. Charlene was a faithful member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Channahon, IL. She retired from the Channahon Post Office after 21+ years of service to her community. She enjoyed flower gardening, birdwatching and the beauty of music. She was an avid card player and will be fondly remembered for all her loving kindness as a wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend but her greatest joy was her role as grandmother and great-grandmother. You left behind some aching hearts, that loved you most sincere; we never shall and never will forget you, "Nono" dear. Visitation for Charlene M. Johnson will be held on Saturday, October 28, from 1:00 PM until Service begins at 4:00 PM at The Maple Funeral Home located at 24300 S. Ford Rd, Channahon. Pastor Ben Ingelson officiating.
